Home Brew Bloggers on January 24, 2020 0 Comments Roses are red, violets are blue, make Valentine’s Day memorable with a unique brew! Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about hearts and flowers, chocolates and wine. Whether you’re celebrating Singles-Awareness Day or your Bae, you never know when cupid might strike with a beer bouquet instead of roses. What’s most important is your love of craft beer. Set the mood with one of these brews. Love Child No. 10 Location: Boulevard Brewing Company Kansas City, MO Brewer’s Description: “Love Child No. 10 is a blend of multiple vintages of Flanders-style Red, Belgian-style Golden, and a host of sour ales all aged in a variety of vessels including previously used wine barrels, puncheons, foeders, and stainless steel tanks.” First Kiss Imperial IPA Location: 3 Sheeps Brewing Sheboygan, WI Brewer’s Description: “First Kiss is a big beer with a little secret. We love full-flavored, hop-forward beers as much as the next brewer, but they tend to fatigue the palate and leave you with a less-than-inspiring last few sips. To avoid this, we turned to an unlikely source: local wildflower honey. It’s not there to add sweetness, instead it targets your tastebuds with a light coating that leaves your palate refreshed, and makes each sip taste like your first. The result is a beer that starts with a huge hop bitterness, then transitions into something light and floral, and ends so clean you might not even realize that it’s 110 IBUs.” Sex Panther Double Chocolate Porter Location: SanTan Brewing Chandler, AZ Brewer’s Description: “A Double Chocolate Porter that’s sensually crafted with Colonial Rosewood Cocoa, chocolate malt and lots of love. The addition of White Wheat gives Sex Panther a smooth, creamy head. Pairs perfectly with smoked meats and sweet treats!” Cupid Location: Carton Brewing Atlantic Highlands, NJ Brewer’s Description: “Simple truth is we wanted to make something taste like roses, and a stout reminiscent of the simple flavors of boxed chocolates seemed to make sense. The path became clear once we embraced honesty, no need for chocolate additions, just a malt bill built around chocolaty roasts. After that it was just some roses on the way home. Drink Cupid because that’s all there was to it, really, we swear, a straightforward inkling for boxed chocolates and some roses. Nothing else was going on.” My Bloody Valentine Location: AleSmith Brewing Company San Diego, CA Brewer’s Description: “Don’t spend this Single Awareness Day alone – grab a My Bloody Valentine! This red-blooded cousin of Evil Dead Red Ale, our Halloween Brew, is a beautiful crimson color. Notes of caramel, toast, and bittersweet chocolate balance an intense bouquet of floral hop aromas that we know you’ll fall in love with. The finish leaves a pleasant, full-bodied sweetness on the palate that won’t spread angry rumors about you to all your friends like that one time when I was…ohh…uhh…Happy Valentine’s Day!” Brew Your Own You really can’t go wrong with anything spicy, chocolaty, or coffee-flavored to set the right mood. Really, what better way to say “I love you ‘beery’ much than by creating your own beer recipe? If you start soon enough you can brew your own at home — it takes about 2 to 4 weeks minimum, depending on the type you’re brewing. You can find all the home brewing supplies you’ll need here. If you’re not feeling that ambitious, and can get your favorite beer for Valentine’s day in a keg, then you need a kegerator to keep it on hand all month long.
